Lynchburg Launch Festival
This family friendly event will offer: music, launch of the historic batteaux, art & crafts, kid's activities and games, wildlife, and historic demonstration. All events are free and open to the public! A free trolley will run from Downtown parking areas all day! The Festival takes place from 10 am - 2 pm. More Information
Celebrate the James River Week
~ Tuesday and Thursday, June 11 & 13: Amazement Square's Batteau Workshop Just in time for the Batteau Festival, come experience life on the James! You will appreciate the 1st River in new ways as you learn the history of the James and batteau boats from local batteau legend, David Haney. You will also have the chance to step aboard a real batteau and try your hand at building one!
~ Friday, June 14: Friday Cheers Friday Cheers celebrates the Launch of the James River Batteau Festival. Head to the Riverfront on Jefferson Street in Downtown Lynchburg for an evening of great music with Chamomile and Whiskey, Yankee Dixie and Country Fried Grass. Gates open at 5:30pm.
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Canoe Race POSTPONED TO AUGUST 24 Join our 4th annual river race on the James River. Paddle from Percival's Island to Mount Athos public boat ramp. Events begin at the River-Edge Park in Madison Heights. There's even a fun float open to everyone!
